I have been at Green Brier for 3 years and my roommate for 2 additional years prior to that. We have had a very good experience. Like with any apartment complex, if you look for problems, you can find them, but they are generally not major.

The residents here are friendly, but keep to themselves, which I appreciate. I love the green spaces and wide open feel, as opposed to many places where things feel crammed together. Another thing that I love is the location, right off of US23, it was very convenient to get to work. There is also a grocery store within walking distance and I often ride my bike to CVS, the post office, bank, library, and Kroger. G.B. is also connected to a great neighborhood for walking/running/rollerblading and a short distance from Gallup Park. Our Front-to-Back style apartment is well-lit with windows on three sides and has a large living area. The windows keep things cool in the summer and we rarely run the air. A huge perk here is that heat is included, so we could keep the thermostat at a balmy 72 degrees all winter.

In response to some of the comments on the site, yes there have been a few bugs. But I've never lived anywhere in my life that didn't have a few. The office staff was nice enough, though we didn't have to deal with them very often. Yes I can hear the freeway when I listen for it, but it doesn't bother me much. One draw back for me is the older windows/screens, though they are in the process of replacing them. The apartment also does not have a washer or dryer, just coin operated machines in the basement- and I'm getting tired of that. The buildings are also a bit older than many others in the NE Ann Arbor area, but the rent is lower too.

Overall, I really like Green Brier. If you're looking for the Ritz, you won't find it here, but you will find a quiet, safe, pleasant complex in a wonderful location. It's a pretty good value- especially compared to places like Village Green that are really expensive and have kids running all over.
