Resident 2014 - 2016

2/18/2016

I have lived at Park Place with my husband and our Great Dane for 2 years now. Unfortunately, Mckinley is one of the only organizations that allow sweet, lazy Great Danes (which are on the top 10 best apartment dogs, I might add) due to their size being considered "giant". We chose Park Place because it is the cheapest rent in Ann Arbor that allows large dogs. A good thing to add is they do have breed restrictions so aggressive breeds known for generally being unsafe are not allowed. Being an apartment, you can definitely hear when people come and go in the hallway. We live on the basement level (which opens to a patio on ground level in the back, great for dog owners) we can hear certain creaky parts of our upper neighbor's floor. Thankfully we have mostly quiet next door neighbors although they do love their electronic music and NHL... Parking is not the most fun during the winter! It is not assigned and sometimes it is hard to find a spot. We work until midnight and when we come home, we often have to park a few buildings down. But there is always a spot somewhere. Maintenance is friendly and responds quickly to requests. They also follow up with an email or phone call to ensure everything is working properly. The management changes often... but right now the property manager Melissa is very friendly and proactive in helping the community. The buildings are old but the 2 bedroom units are a great size. Not enough storage space but shelving can help with that. I would not recommend using their laundry rooms because they do not work as well so you end up doing multiple runs and it costs too much. Lots of options nearby. The grounds are always well kept. We have never had an issue with that other than one neighbor who lets his dog roam loose and the dog's wastes are all over that area of land. Eventually they are picked up by someone. The community has dog bags and trash areas. Overall, it is great for what it is. The location is the best part but the apartments are not as bad as these reviews are saying they are. We are hopefully going to renew our lease this summer and stay for a few more years.
