Resident 2000 - 2002

10/25/2002

I´ve lived at Spruce Knob for over two years. All in all, not a bad place to live. The complex only has 168 units, so it is big enough to have a staff but small enough that the staff knows who you are. Buildings are older (late 60s), but in good condition. Very sturdy construction, concrete walls and floors. Really cuts down on noise. Decent kitchen, nothing special but functional. Great floorplan, facilitates nice cross-breeze. They allow dogs of all sizes as long as they are well-behaved, so if you are a rabid dog-hater you might not be happy, though in general the dogs are better behaved than some of the tenants. Maintenance is very responsive, professional, and earnest, as is the office staff. Complex has pool and sand court for volleyball, but no clubhouse or other common areas. Onsite laundry, nothing special but functional. My only complaint is the rent; it has gone up every year and will soon be too much for me and a lot of my neighbors to afford, as they will continue to raise it every year, even though amenities and services remain the same. Tenants are typically grad students and childless professionals. A few children and seniors, but mostly grad students and other adults. <br>
