Excellent apartments, close proximity, good maintenance... A
I was very fortunate to find the Highlands during interviews at UM several years ago. There are many pluses to this complex, which I list below. A great place to live if finishing a lengthy degree (PhD/masters/etc.). Pluses: --Plenty of parking --Spacious apartments (mine is a one-bedroom, which I share with my cats). --Rent is competitive versus other apartments near campus. --Quick walk (~5 min) to UM bus stop (Bursley-Baits area) and (~7 min) AATA #2 stops. Also within walking distance of Kroger, Plymouth mall shops, etc. --Very pet friendly (I have 2 cats). --Good maintenance (prompt responses, friendly staff) --Grounds are quite scenic and well-maintained. The "island" in the middle of the parking lot is great for picnics/bbq's in good weather. --Pool maintenance is excellent. --Friendly neighbors and respectful atmosphere. --Friendly and helpful apt. manager Dana. --Safe neighborhood days/nights. --Coin-operated washer/dryer, one set per 2 floors. Minuses: --I had problems with neighbors a few years back w.r.t noise levels after-hours (quickly resolved). However, the majority of neighbors are respectful and friendly. --Coin-operated washer/dryer, too bad it's not free (or part of our rent)!! --Few parking permits available, which may be an issue if you have multiple cars. Check with Dana re. the actual policy for cars. --The apartments go fast, so sign up quick!Share This Review
