Resident 2011 - 2012

7/5/2012

Straight to the point: If you are not a student DO NOT live at Willowtree. If you are someone looking for something more permanent I would not recommend it. Pros: The units themselves are decently designed. The location is decent for the price (by Ann Arbor standards)and heat is included. Parking is ample, and the grounds have a gym and a pool. The people in the leasing office are pretty nice, and have lots of activities for residents. Maintenance is pretty quick. Cons: You hear a lot of noise from other apartments and the smells that come out some apartments are RIDICULOUS (mostly smells of garbage). On some days the whole hallway is lit up and the smells filter into your air vents. On top of that the pipes in the building are old so if the person above or below you decides to shower at 3am (which may happen often because many residents are college students)it will sound like the building is being demolished around you. The path around the complex's man made pond is nice, but it is covered with bird crap from the geese. So unfortunately you have to walk looking down. When I moved in, there was a giant hole in one of the walls in the backroom, and the closets in the bedroom were fairly banged up. Also I had to clean up somebody else's PISS from the toilet and call a roach exterminator the first day. TO BE FAIR, overall Willowtree is not that bad. If you are a student its a decent place to lay your head, and I only saw roaches the first day, but saw none after the exterminator came out.
