Resident 2004 - 2005

8/25/2005

We were excited to rent an apartment in a clarkston neighborhood, but that turned very quickly once moving there. We lived in the "extra" section of fox creek (if you decide to live there REFUSE this section of 5055 N!) and the parking is AWFUL!!! There are never any extra spots open, everyone blocks the opening for the turn around, and of course we always had people parking in our covered spot. We reported this to the office, but they did nothing. Not even so much as a reminder flyer that covered spots are for the resident assigned to it. Also, we turned in our rent a few minutes after the 5pm cut off on the 2nd, and they actually returned the check and said they did not accept partial payments and we need to add a $15 fee for being 5 minutes past their deadline, which is fine, but included was a eviction notice..on the SECOND DAY of the month???? God forbid you ever forget or having something going on in your life and you miss their deadline by a few minutes! We knew at that point it was time for us to leave. Any place that has such little regard for their tennants is not for us. Also, you will notice there are NO parking lot lights...something we asked about before we moved in. You pull into your spot, turn off your lights and you are in sheer darkness...how hard would it be FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR RESIDENTS to put a few lights in the parking structures?? Safety is not a top concern I guess. Also, the 5055 side of fox creek has 1 dumpster for 40 or so apartments, and from watching it is a common dumping ground for the surrounding residents (I watched many drive up, dump their trash in the dumpster, then drive off), yet Management sends a letter around telling US to make sure we put our trash INTO the stuffed dumpster. No letter about parking, but they are all over scolding us about the trash. Also, i have to comment about the cheap way these were built. Ugly school tile in the kitchen and entry way. That is just tacky. We were told that our carpet would probably be replaced before we moved in because it had not been replaced yet, but it wasn't. It was matted and worn before we moved in and we just had to deal with it. The single side sink was so shallow that I couldn't fill up a gallon pitcher in it. Also, in the model we had, our air conditioning unit was built into the living room wall, so if you wanted to watch tv while running the air, you really have to crank the volume. Also, don't expect your deposit back anytime soon after moving. They hold it as long as legally possible, I guess to get the interest from it?? who knows, maybe just to be a pain, but we are still waiting. I've lived in several apartments in my life, none of which touted themselves as "luxury" but all we nicer and more well built than these. Don't expect the VIP treatment for being a resident, don't expect help if you have people parking in your spots, don't expect a quiet enviornment, and don't expect luxury. Expect barely acceptible living at Fox Creek, that's what you get.
