Lofts at Merchants Row

i moved to Detroit from Chicago & honestly i love it here. yes, it does have crime (like any major city) but i feel secure living here. i dont worry about anyone breaking into my car (valet parking in garage) nor do i really worry about an incident occurring in our building (it's monitored 24-7 by a security company). nothing is perfect anywhere, but i think my loft is as perfect as it comes. i live in a 3 level & dont intend on moving out anytime soon. if safety, style convenience are concerns, i would suggest checking out the lofts. the maintenance guys r good & the staff, overall, are decent. also, i live in the main bldg (there r 2 bldgs total) and it's real quiet. so, yea...i love it here. the only drawback is that some ppl have dogs and i dont really like pets, lol! but, i think when u move downtown, u expect to give up a bit of that suburban life (like grass!)and adapt to the urban wya. if u dont like the urban lifestyle then living in the HEART of downtown isnt 4 u...if u love urban living tho...this place is worth a look! there r plenty of places 2 shop 4 groceries...the shuttle takes us to eastern mkt on saturdays, honeybee mkt in mexicantown has good, inexpensive produce...harbortown mkt is OPEN (tho i dont like it that much)and theres a new place called ye old butcher shoppe that should be open soon. bottom line: detroit is a great place to live so unless my job transfers me i wont be leaving the lofts.
