OK. Here is my story. A few years ago, a police officer I knew from DTPD told me to avoid this place. He recommended a few others in the area, but said this was not a place he would recommend. He didn't get into detail. Now, we (my family and I) are in a position to move and I've repeatedly told my husband that this was NOT a place to go to and I told him what a DTPD had told me. Still, I don't think he believed me. SOOOO...today, I decided to prove it. I went into DTPD offices and asked, under FOIA, to get a listing of the various complaints, calls, etc that DTPD has responded to at Four Seasons. The look on the employee's face was priceless. All I had to do was give the address (didn't mention the complex name) and she knew EXACTLY what I was talking about. She told me she was going to be honest...that my request would take some time to get together AND I would have to put down a $50 deposit. Granted, I expected to pay a fee for printouts, but she told me straight out what the minimum cost would be. I kind of laughed and she said, "Yes, $50 deposit, if that tells you anything". I said, "I totally get it" and knew right then and there I didn't need a printout to know this place was NOT desirable. For those of you that can't read between the lines here, the calls, complaints, etc to this complex is SOOOO numerous, that it would've cost me AT LEAST that much money to get all of the info!!!!!! SERIOUSLY! I expected a couple of bucks..but clearly this ------ is worse than I thought. Here is a tip I learned through my years of working in law enforcement, as well: Check out the vehicles. If you can't maintain your car, you can't maintain yourself. PERIOD. ALSO....look at resident windows. Broken window blinds? Blankets up to windows instead of window treatments? What's on the outside in ANY respect reflects what's on the inside. On the flip side, when I gave another address of another complex to the employee, she didn't know the address off the top of her head. Good sign. NOW....here is another red flag. Management. I don't know who it was my husband spoke with but she was insistent that DeWitt has a bus that goes into their complex. BZZT. WRONG. This is LANSING SCHOOLS. Call DeWitt transportation and they will verify that this complex is NOT in their district and they pick NO kids up here. My observations when driving through: You are, literally, sharing a small concrete area with your neighbor. There are no patios, balconies, etc which means, your neighbor will bombard your shared area with grills, chairs, etc. I can't speak for everyone, but I don't want someone's fam-damly hanging outside of my door having a grill party. I saw one place with like TWO grills. Another with numerous (and I mean NUMEROUS) kid outdoor toys all over the place. That advice I gave about checking out cars? It holds true here. I even saw one car with PLASTIC up to a window (FIX YOUR WINDOW!!!!). Bottom line, what you see is what you get: clearly these residents don't respect their neighbors' space and what reflects on the outside is what's on the inside. PASS.
