Resident 2009 - 2010

4/13/2010

Before moving into Homestead I lived in one of their sister properties in the same city at twice the cost and half the service and cleanliness. Sure, Homestead is not a luxury apartment with amenities galore and shiny new surfaces but there is a 24 hour fitness facility, use of the pool at the sister property and everything you could possibly want, from pizza and Chinese to videos and slurpees or even a gallon of milk, is within close walking distance. It's less than 2 miles from downtown (and MSU) and located right next to the walking path that takes you there or to the East Lansing dog park or soccer complex. It's also just 2 minutes to the highway and major shopping. I agree that the rent "deal" that hooks you will eventually go up, but that happens everywhere and is still lower than what many rentals charge because they cater to students only and rent per room. If you have a family and need a large house in this city, forget about renting something better than Homestead. To accomodate my big family I rented two apartments and disagree that energy costs are inflated, neither rental has run more than $35 a month for gas and electric in the Spring or $70 in the winter. Bottom line, if you want a pet friendly, walkable community with great staff and a clean apartment with everything you need, if not always what you want, Homestead might be a great place for you.
