Resident ā€¢ 2018 - 2019

12/18/2019

I will explain some of the reasoning for my ratings. The walls in these apartments are paper thin. My room was located right next to the apartment stairwell; I literally heard everyone coming in and i could hear their conversations fairly clearly. With my room door closed, i could hear conversations from my roommates in the living as if they were speaking from within my room (and it's not because not that they are abnormally loud talkers). Not to mention that this is a college apartment, meaning you can probably expect your neighbors to throw some type of party on the weekends. For these reasons, it was hard some nights to get a full night's rest. For the most part, the grounds were kept well. However, the first two semesters i was living here there was literally dog s*** everywhere. No one picked up after their pets which is shameful because you shouldn't own a pet you if you don't how to clean up after them. This wasn't the Village's fault, but it was something i has to live through. Safety is pretty good in my opinion. After a month of moving in, the whole apartment complex will have their front doors locked, requiring a Key FOB to open. Although i think this is good, on two occasions the apartment had switched on the locks and disabled my key FOB, locking me out when i arrived home from work at 7pm. When i went into the leasing office to see if they fix the FOB, they ultimately did it but not before they emphasized that they were closed and i should have done it earlier (Mind you i was at work all day...). I was really annoyed at how they made it seem like it my fault. Other than that, i never felt like i wasn't safe living here. I didn't have much problems with maintenance, for most things they got the job done. However, i rated them pretty poorly because they lied to me about an issue regarding water pressure. There was low water pressure coming out of the faucets in every sink in the apartment except my roommate's bathroom. i placed a request to get it fixed, and i was told that there's nothing that can be done because thats just the water pressure that the building has (which turned out to be a total lie since my roommate's was clearly 5x stronger). The following year, my new roommate took over one of the rooms and got their faucets fixed, which perplexed and frustrated me. Turns out that the reasoning for the low water pressure is because management installed a faucet cap to restrain water flow in order to keep the water bill low. Low water pressure for my apartment was a huge hinderance because it would require your to spend 3x longer to wash your hands and wash your dishes. It was supper annoying. The staff and management is probably the worst aspect of the Village. If you read through any of the previous explanation you can get a sense of why i feel that way. The staff's attitude tended to always be positive (which is probably the only good thing they did), but they were completely useless when you needed help. if you receive a package, they will notify you through email. Once you get to the office, it's as if they don't have the slightest clue where your package is. My girlfriend went in to ask them to refill the office printer with ink (Free printing, just need to supply your own papers) and the office lady said she'll check really quick for ink; but there was another person behind my girlfriend, and the office lady said she'll find the ink after she helps the other person out. The staff member proceeded to help the other person out for 10 minutes (What happened to first come first served), but the worst part about this whole incident is that the office lady forget my girlfriend needed assistance and left her waiting in the lobby after everything. Lastly, i just found a sub-leaser to take over my lease. I spoke to Marcus, a leasing consultant about the steps involved so that my sub-leaser and I can both finalize everything before the break; Marcus replied something along the lines of "You just have to sign this form and then she'll just go through the initial process that you did" (which is vague to me since i haven't signed the lease in over a year and a half). Later that night, as i was explaining the steps to my sub-leaser, i also emailed Marcus if he can email me the exact steps so that i can be precise in my details to my sub-leaser. Till this day, i still haven't received an email from Marcus, or the leasing office. This is really unprofessional, frustrating, and extremely annoying. TLDR: Thin Walls, grounds usually well kept, safe place to live, maintenance is okay, staff is horrible. Do not recommend living here.
