The building and unit itself are nothing extraordinary, but are well-kept. It is in a fairly quiet, multiple use neighborhood that is very accessible to the East Lansing community. Its smaller size means that there is not a lot of traffic, nor a great many visitors coming and going at all hours. There is an elementary school three blocks away and the public school buses (middle and high school) stop right outside the building. It is also on at least two public transit routes (including easy access to the Michigan State University campus), with easy connections throughout the area. Meijer is a short walk, a 7-11 is across the street, and both my doctor and my ophthalmologist are within a few blocks. Entertainment too is very convenient, with the Eastwood Centre about a half-mile to the west, the East Lansing Family aquatic Center just to the east, and downtown East Lansing less than two miles to the south. The East Lansing biking trails pass about a block away and can get you to the Aquatic Center, the Soccer Complex, and some very beautiful pathways in just minutes. Living here with two daughters has had some great advantages in terms of both accessibility and security. However, what sets Walden Woods apart for me has been the extraordinary rental and maintenance staffs. The nearby Arbor Glen clubhouse (DTN Management owns multiple nearby properties) is always very welcoming and the rental office people very accommodating. The building itself is clean and well-maintained, with parking and walkways always cleared in the winter and landscaping always refreshed in the summer. Those few times when I have needed something to be repaired, the maintenance personnel have been prompt, courteous, and efficient. They acknowledge that this is MY home and treat it (and me) with respect.
