I lived in this building for approximately 2.5 years after making an emergency move from another complex.
GOOD: The building structure was good; quiet tenants (when I lived there); reminds you of a senior citizens building.
NOT SO GOOD: Okay, where should I start...They are too expensive for simply offering a unit and NOTHING more; every utility is paid for by the tenant; the water bill is divided up based on how many tenants are in the apt (if I'm not mistaken) For example: a 1 bdrm would carry a $30 monthly bill and a 2 bdrm would carry a $60 monthly. Your water was cheaper in the spring, but as soon as the weather change, it would increase. If your not home for a month, TOUGH; your still responsible for the bill. It is an "unfair" charge as you may not use as much water as the tenant above you that takes 30 min showers. The full breakdown of charges are not listed. Your bill will simply state "water fee, trash removal".
Get to know your neighbors like I did; some of them are more than willing to provide you information about rental increases they received for the new lease agreement; I used information provided to me by them to "fight" for a decrease when my rent went up $60 after the first year. And this occurred because each tenant had different increases-- all far less than mine. If you should ever find yourself dealing with this type of issue, send a letter to the office and corporate if needed; don't be afraid to address fair housing laws with them:-) Please note: my increases every year was roughly $60. Also, if they offer flexible leases and you want to sign a new lease for 6 months or less, do not allow them to tell you that they do not have the availability--this is not your problem; demand it even IF you have to contact corporate; they will make a deal:-)
Maintenance was not an issue for me when it was time to repair; however, one time they entered my unit on an "emergency" call. I was home, but never heard them knocking because I was in the shower! I have a hard time believing they did not hear my shower running, but they insisted upon entering the unit. By the time I made it out of the shower they were gone. I was only aware they were there because they left my blinds open which were closed before I took a shower; freaking scary, right? I addressed the office manager right in front of a delivery worker. And her response was simply, "I'm so sorry, but there was a leak" This was a clear invasion of privacy. Common sense should lead the maintenance worker back out the door once he hears shower water.
Convenience: The architect design of this building is like the shape of a question mark (best I can describe it). It was a heck of an inconvenience for me moving in/out and just simply walking to and from my car from the unit. It wasn't a deal breaker for me, but I vowed to avoid places like this in the future.
Other than the very expensive units and that lone issue with maintenance, it's not a bad place at all. Because I was in a rush to move from the previous residence, the first "nice" place that told me they had a vacancy, I took it.
The good news is, there are other complexes in and around the area that might be slightly cheaper w/ far more amenities included.
