This is a beautiful old apartment complex. The grounds, with some gardening work, could be beautiful as well. For now, there is evidence of past beauty but mostly looks overgrown. The parking situation is not so good. I live off the main parking lot and sometimes come home to find no where to park. That can be pretty scary to a woman coming home alone after dark. I have not had problems with people breaking into my car but have know others who have had their cars broken into many times and one freind had their truck stolen.
The place is for the most part, pretty quiet however there are 2 Kettering Frats around the corner on Sunset who like to party into the wee hours in the summertime.
The phone lines are very old and not so good for a modem. We had some trouble with crossed lines when we first got service hooked up.
Snow removal is not very fast unless it snows Monday - Saturday between the hours of 9 and 6.
Laundry facilities are handy with new machines however if you do not remove your laundry as soon as it is done, chances are good another tennant will do it for you.
Trash removal went from being doorside and included in rent to being centrally located in the main parking lot and there is a $5 charge. It isn´t terrible for most tennants but it seems difficult for the elderly.
The apartments have steam heat and stay very warm in the winter. But heat is not included in rent charges and there is no way to control the temp. Very frustrating!
Hot water has, more than a few times, been turned off for repair with out notice.
I don´t know much about the current repair crew (they seem good) but past maintainence workers have cut corners and done very poor jobs and it shows.
I would encourage people to ask a lot of questions and explore as many options as possible before choosing to live here. I isn´t horrible, but there are a few better places in Flint to live.
