My experience at Old Orchard has been incredibly stressful. When we first moved into the apartment we were very excited. It's right down the street from a nice park and it is close to the stores off of Cedar. The apartment itself had a lot of remodeling to go through. We found out after we moved in that the people who lived there before us had cats that trashed the place. When we first moved in the peephole was broken so you could pull it out from the outside. A lot of the baseboards were missing chunks. The shower is disgusting because it gets clogged so quickly you stand in 2-3 inches of water even after pouring draino down it and having the maintenance men stick a snake thing down it. For the first few months my son's room smelled of cat pee, so I moved him to sleep in the living room because the stench was so strong. After telling the manager several times since April when I first moved in they finally came to give us new carpet and paint the floor underneath so the smell wouldn't happen again in July. Since I have lived there in April the police have showed up in the complex several times, and the noise from the people upstairs was awful. They kept me up all night. You can hear exactly where they were walking at all times. If they left their windows open you could hear their conversations. The people in the basement smoke pot so if you come in after 9 the hallway reeks. My neighbor across the hall said that she would wake up in the night to use the bathroom and the smell would be coming through the vents. I wouldn't recommend living here.
