Resident 2012

8/20/2012

My husband and I have lived in the New Towne Terrace Apartments for going on two years now. Overall, I would say our experience hasn't been terrible. We like the space, we enjoy our balcony, and it is QUIET! Most of the tenants around here are older, or younger families. I also feel safe here. A post previously mentioned that the police are always here, but I have only seen the police a small handful of times, and those times were related to a domestic abuse issue (I know because they were my neighbors-the girl sounded like she was being murdered most of the time). So police activity, to my knowledge, was for a specific person in a specific building. Most of the tenants seem like up-standing people-no shady characters around here from what I can tell. Ashley isn't a terrible manager either. I honestly think that any lack of correspondence comes from being stretched too thin both on her part, and the maintenance guy's part. To change those problems, tenants need to be communicating with the Phoenix Corporate people and voicing their concerns versus blaming the leasing agent, and maintenance. The decisions that are made are made by the corporate offices in terms of anything dealing with revenue. So to address the cockroach issue mentioned previously (no, I do not have roaches in my apartment...again, sounds like an isolated case) it is probably corporate that is making the decisions on how to combat the problem, not Ashley or Bill. There are some downsides here. These are older buildings, and some of the interior problems can't easily be fixed. We unfortunately live beneath a chronic smoker, and if you're someone who doesn't smoke and reacts very negatively to it, before moving here inquire as to your neighbor's personal habits. Cigarette smoke streams abundantly into our apartment when the air conditioner is running, and even filters into the apartment directly below us! It's because all the ventilation runs vertically together, and that is within the concrete/steel walls, hence, not accessible for maintenance. Fortunately, we can't smell it when the heat is on, though, so honestly it is only a nuisance during the hot summer months. If you move here, and have that problem, ask the office to supply you with an air purifier or two-they did that for us, and it helps.
