When I went to this site to see the "tenant feedback" on Alpine Village, I was rather surprised to see an only 20% recommendation! Alpine Village is what I would call a nice "compromise" between many factors. The price is unbeatable, the (courtyard) view is golden, the space is manageable, the community small, and the management friendly. With that said, here is the general break-down: PROS: Rates are extremely competitive. Cats are allowed. Parking is extremely abundant and easy, with guests allowed to park anywhere they like. The courtyard view (esp. with a high balcony) is great, with many trees and foliage (my wife and I have even spotted deer herds on a few occasions). Located on a wooded side street, so street noise is minimal. Neighbors are generally friendly, easy-going and respectful. Heat and air conditioning both work well. Water pressure and heat are PHENOMENAL (best showers in the world). Grounds are kept up very nicely, during all seasons (contrary to earlier reviews, we have had no problems with snow removal). CONS: The manager and maintenance crew are all VERY friendly, but VERY slow; there is only one manager and two maintenance guys covering all the buildings and grounds. You can see where this becomes a problem.....If you experience a major, fundamental problem (heat not working properly, etc.) one of the guys is at your door in 10 minutes. However, if your problem is aesthetic or costs Alpine Village $ (leaking window seals, burned out bulbs, etc.), expect a wait of AT LEAST 1-2 weeks, sometimes months. Apartments could definitely be more spacious. Carpeting, appliances and fixtures (at least in our place) look, and occasionally 'behave' ancient. Locks on front building door are finicky, although they seem largely fixed now. Laundry facilities are WOEFULLY INADEQUATE; two washers/driers shared between THREE buildings? Come on! Also rates have recently increased for washer/dryer use. Overall, I would recommend Alpine Village as a pleasant, relatively quiet community; the residents cover a wide cross-section from college students, to elderly folks, to middle-aged couples, to young families. The place is not nearly as "trashy" and "------" as some make it out to be. I definitely recommend this place- in fact on my recommendation some good friends of mine did move in and seem very satisfied.
