I LOVE it here! I am a single female, 55 years old, and this building makes me feel like I did when I was in my 20s. It's quaint and quirky, yes! That's what's to love! Every apartment is different, which is what attracts such an eclectic mix of people. If you are judgmental or intolerant, you should look elsewhere, but if you love the freedom of the wilderness and admire enterprise, you just might love Washington Apartments, too. I read that first review from the "Anonymous Resident" and found it to be a bit hysterical. Not to mention that if it was so bad here, why did the "Anonymous Resident" live here for three years? Look people, bedbugs are not a discriminating parasite. They go everywhere they can - from a warm bed in the abandoned tunnels of NYC's subway system to the extravagant rooms of the Trump conglomerate, bedbugs are so prevalent that every reputable apartment complex includes a bedbug addendum with the lease. If your building doesn't attach such an addendum, I would be concerned. And "dogs barking"? Really? It's a building that allows pets. If you don't like pets don't come here. If you like pets but a neighbor's pet is bothering you, humans have the capability of employing conflict resolution steps. No one's pet has made any unwanted overtures toward me. There is a rabbit family that often distracts me with their afternoon frolicking in the expansive green lawn behind the building, next to the covered parking areas.... Enough reaction to malcontents - I moved to this place from Texas because online sites claimed it had hardwood floors and they take pets. I moved to this place "sight unseen" because of the woman who manages the building. I was running out of time to find a place because I am too picky, apparently. I contacted multiple places in and around Lansing, but none of them could accommodate my needs on relatively short notice. None but Carolyn Case, who is the manager at Washington Apartments, even seemed to care that I wanted where I lived to be comfortable for me. I LOVE it here! Washington Apartments is in an historic part of the city that is currently undergoing rejuvenation thanks to the Lansing Board of Water and Light and the enterprising inhabitants of Michigan (the woman who owns the Thriftique Resale Boutique down the street told me this.). I can walk to several individually-owned pubs and restaurants or to Lansing Community College to see a free play or create my own trek through history on the Riverwalk Trail that is out the back door. Personally, if you don't rent here, it just leaves more options for me. But if you are the kind of person who understands what I have written, I think we would love to have you. Cheers!
