Canterbury East Apartments
Resident · 2013 - 2014
I lived here for almost half a year now. Overall a positive experience. Good: -The apartments have much less students due to above-average prices. I am myself a student, but enjoy this quieter life. Sound insulation between units is not very well, but residents are nothing to complain about. -Staff is very helpful. -Maintenance requests are completed in less than 24 hours. I did have about 5 requests but all minor. The building's water heater failed one time but was still _replaced_ in less than 24 hrs. -kitchen is somewhat small, though cabinets are good quality and offer lots of storage. Electric range with a _real_ exhaust vent, not a "filter". Not so good: -They are somewhat slow with snow removal. There were a few time when I had to walk through a few inches of snow but that was most likely due to wind. Parking lots are not very well plowed, even when there's almost no cars parked. I saw that it took some people a few minutes to get out of their spot. -ceiling light in the bedroom is absolutely useless. No lights in the living room. No exhaust fan in the shower room - only in the bathrooms, which seems to be the opposite of logical. -one of the bedrooms is colder than the rest of the apartment due to it being farther "out" to the street and the radiator is not under the window but along the side wall. In the summer - A/C only cools the living room, not bedrooms. -laundry room is somewhat expensive and one of the dryers was not drying for two months but taking money. Most of that time there was no notice of malfunction posted. -strict pet policy. Couldn't take my cat with me because he'd have to be declawed, even though they ask for extra rent, non-refundable and refundable deposits for all pets. -overall a good apartment complex compared to most in the area.
