Resident 2009 - 2010

5/12/2010

I've lived at Lexington Ridge for almost a year, and will be living in a new apartment in the complex for the next year. The apartment I have is a 3-BR upper-level flat. First, I'll say what gripes I do have about the place. Insulation isn't great (easily fixed with a $10 window sealing kit), but the heat bill (with the electric heat, so the electric bill really) wasn't THAT unreasonable during the winter months. There were times when we'd run the heat for a few days in one room, and compared to previous months the bill never jumped really when that happened. The noise heard through the floors can be annoying at times in the flat-style apartments. Sometimes the water does take a few minutes to heat up. Honestly, that's all the negatives I can really think of. The positives far outweigh the negatives. Free laundry is great. Even if they did raise the rent for this, as a previous reviewer mentioned, their rent is still one of (if not the) cheapest in Mt. Pleasant. Especially if you don't want to stay at complexes that have horrible reputations for screwing people over on deposits (eg. United Apt). Thought the flats aren't HUGE, they offer a lot of space you may not necessarily account for: cupboards galore, nice sized closets in every room along with two main-room closets, and a balcony area (not private, but having a corner apartment almost makes it private, haha). And obviously the free internet and cable is good. Also, never have had a maintenance problem yet. Where Lexington Ridge definitely shines is service. I have friends in Campus Habitat and Tallgrass and neither of them got donuts & cider during Homecoming week, nor did that get a coupon for two free small Dominoe's pizza at exam time. All the while our rent is still cheaper. The staff in the office has always been polite and has been able to answers questions. And the management is very kind, as they have given us leniency twice now when we've had some hard financial times and have asked for a few more days to pay rent. I doubt most corporate-owned complexes would allow that. These aren't palaces. But for the price and the amenities, I don't know of anything better in Mount Pleasant.
