Lots of negative reviews on here. I don't know if this place has changed in the year or so since the last review but here are my 2 cents. This is my first one bedroom apartment being on my own. I also work midnights. My review is based off the first month of living here. Pros: Accommodating staff. I don't know what people are talking about with rude staff. All of my questions have been answered promptly and with no attitude. I only had to deal with maintenance once since I've been here, and that was for my move in inspection. The guy I dealt with was very friendly and quickly fixed a few minor issues I had. I expressed my issue in the afternoon and he was there first thing in the morning the next day. The only big issue I've had since I've moved in has been with my car port, which is outlined below in the cons. Little to no noise. Seriously. You can hear everyone's TVs in the common area, that's fine. But if it wasn't for that I wouldn't be sure if I even had any neighbors. I can hear the guy above me walk around occasionally, but thats it. For someone that works midnights and sleeps during the afternoon I couldn't ask for anything better. In the month or so that I've been here I haven't had my sleep interrupted once. I haven't heard of any complaints about my noise level either. Open living space. Plenty of open room in my living room and bedroom. I've lived in two bedrooms that are smaller and don't have a hallway. My only complaint is that my kitchen isnt that large and the layout is fairly basic, but for a single guy in his 30s I don't really need much. Appliances: Everything worked fine on my move in. While they aren't modern appliances, I wouldn't say they are out of date like some other reviews claimed. Cons: I have a few issues with the interior of my apartment which is why I rated the grounds 3 stars. For starters the paint job is a little shoddy. It looks like someone just lazily grazed over everything with a roller. The vents in my bathroom have a lot of paint build up over them. Some of my cupboards and drawers have exposed wood. There are a few cracks in the bathroom tile. I could see someone much pickier than I am having an issue with this. I should mention that the carpet is fairly new and beautiful. No issues there. Another issue is with the car ports. I've been here for a month now and the carports for my building are still not labeled. I had to ask a maintenance guy and the leasing office to confirm which port is mine. They said they would work on it but it still hasn't been taken care of. That's really the only issues I have with this place. I've lived in a lot of apartments over the years out in Rochester. With a dishwasher, washer and dryer, walkout porch/balcony and being pet friendly, you won't find a better price at the moment, which is why I don't have too many issues with the inside of my apartment. I've lived in places that were a lot worse for more money or at a similar price with less amenities. I haven't been here long, but I'd consider renewing my lease if my experience here stays the same over the course of the next year.

Dear mgl---2k9, Thank you for writing such a wonderful review, we appreciate you taking the time to share this valuable feedback. I am so glad to hear that you are enjoying your apartment, and you have had a pleasant experience with our staff so far. That is also great to hear that you are able to sleep uninterrupted! We hope you continue making The Essex at Hampton the place you choose to sleep soundly in the future. As far as the carports are concerned, I apologize for the confusion with the labeling of the carports when you moved in; we had replaced and repaired some of the carports this summer. At that time, we ordered new labels through our contractor. Upon reading your review, we have followed up our contractor, and learned that some of the labels have arrived (75-80). There are still some on order (1-3, 6, and 81-90). Our contactor will be labeling the carports very soon. Regarding your feedback about the quality of painting in your apartment, I am so glad you shared that with me. I would love an opportunity to discuss this with you, as well as the cracked tile; it sounds like there may be an opportunity here to make your stay even more enjoyable. Please reach out to me personally, by phone at 248-852-7500, or via email at rm@theessexathampton.com. Thank you again! We are glad you are here! Sincerely, Danielle Galbraith Residential Manager The Essex at Hampton Apartments 248.852.7500
