I lived at Timberlea Village for 3 years. As long as you never have to deal with the office staff, it's a fantastic place to live. The grounds are nice, the apartments are small, but decent, the pool is very clean and pleasant. The maintenance people always came quickly and I felt quite safe. We had some bad luck with neighbors - one year we had two college kids upstairs who had loud parties a lot and another year there was a cigar smoker who stunk the whole building up. But for the most part, it's pretty quiet. In the winter, the parking lot and sidewalks were always cleared very quickly. Now for the negatives: when we moved in there was a different office staff than there is now. They were so helpful and prompt at answering any questions or addressing any concerns we had. The current office staff is lazy, they don't return phone calls, they lose files and have no idea what they're doing. Also, we did not have an updated apartment. The appliances were relatively new, but the cupboards were unattractive, old, and made of particle board. The fan in the dining room was old and cheap. The front closet door came off its track constantly. Also, in the bathroom, the shower doors were cheap and old looking and the holes where they had taken out the shower curtain rod were filled with plaster but not painted over. None of these things are a big deal, but when you can get an updated unit for the same price (which we didn't know until AFTER we'd moved in), it's pretty annoying. ALSO, I had a ground floor apartment and there were TONS of bugs in the summer. Mostly earwigs, these big, brown spiders and silverfish. I also had a problem last summer with bees getting into the apartment through little holes in the doorwall. Overall, I would recommend Timberlea Village. Just remember that you're going to have to hound the office staff and stay on top of EVERYTHING with them.
