My fianc and I are both LSSU students living in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment with a roommate and a large dog. We love living at West Pier Apartments, there is plenty of space for all of us! We have never had any issues with the apartment and the smallest 'fix-its' are repaired within an hour or two of a repair request. We also really enjoy the beautiful view of the freighters passing by. The office staff are always friendly and the lobby has a great family atmosphere with plenty of seating for any occasion. During the holidays, the staff host a potluck, providing the main dish and all bring a dish to pass. Every morning, there is coffee served, and ocasionally muffins or a light snack; This is usually the hangout for the retired folks! There is free wifi in the lobby, along with a large TV with cable, and seating with a small library. The fitness center is small, but usually empty. If you're bringing a dog, this is a great atmosphere having the fenced in dog park, the 'waste' stations all around the facility, and the sidewalks (twice around the building is a mile). Provided is a family area with charcoal grills, yet I never see them being used. Next year, there will be a playground in that area, so hopefully we will see more kids playing outside! There are two elevators and wagons provided which come in handy when carrying groceries to the third floor. Our neighbors are great, always sparking conversation in the hallway or stopping by to visit our dog. Surprisingly, being night owls and having a large dog bouncing around we have never received a noise complaint, but the walls are pretty thin; On occasion, I can hear the neighbor sneeze. As for safety, it is not even a concern here. You could probably leave your door unlocked and never have an issue. The sidewalks are always maintained and salted, and the parking lot is generally plowed, but still very slick. Having three college students in the house, our electric bill runs a little high, around $100 give or take, but other than that the only bills we pay are cable/internet. Our rent is fairly high, but we pay a pet fee and also have a enclosed garage. Overall, West Pier Place is a great place to live!
