West Pier Place Apartments

Some of the biggest problems with West Pier are poor maintenance of common areas, an underlying hostility toward pets, and too frequent rent increases. I lived at West Pier Apartments for two years. During that time the outside doors were more often than not broken so they either didn't close all the way (making a joke of the need to enter a code to get in) or didn't open even after you entered your code (meaning you couldn't get in through that door at all and would have to find another entrance to lug your groceries through). Because these doors were often cracked open, I never felt safe at West Pier. The official policy at West Pier is "pet friendly," but it is a very negative place regarding pets. Many times, I got a threatening letter from management warning me that if other people kept failing to pick up pet waste the whole apartment would become no pets allowed and I would have to send my pets away. It really bordered on harassment, especially considering I was one of the residents who was conscientious about pet waste. Add to this the gloomy atmosphere with the gray walls and ceilings, the repeated appliance break downs, the inability to find a parking space if one arrived home after 11 pm, and my rent and fees being raised all the way up to $975 per month, and this was simply an awful place to live. Avoid it if you can.
