West Pier Place Apartments

The apartment itself was nice and spacious with a in unit laundry. There were indoor garbage shoots, an indoor mail room, and nice community workout room. Packages go to the office where they put a slip in your mail box to come collect it. This is inadequate and boxes should be signed for by the tenant and the boxes should go from the hands of the mail carrier to the hands of the recipient of the package. The parking was adequate, but not well lit. The walls were thin and the kids ran up and down the halls at all hours of the day. Pet friendly, but required a deposit, pet rent, and up to date vaccination records. The vaccination record upkeep was excellent and the office would notify you when your pets were due. I was on the third floor and the balcony overlooked the St. Mary's River and the Canadian Steel Mill. The kitchen had a disposal and dishwasher, which were handy, but little cabinetry and no where to put a proper garbage can. The bathroom was spacious but showering with their shower head was like exposing your body to continuous needle pokes which resulted in more of a steam shower than an actual shower. In unit water heater, air conditioning, furnace, and controls for each. The studios had little in the way of storage and mine shared a wall with the garbage shoot and elevators. The neighbors seemed to be watching my every move waiting for an opportunity to tell on me or lay blame. When I moved out I was told that I should receive most of my deposit back, but they ended up replacing the carpet and repainting the walls with little to no explanation and required me to pay more money (over $100). Expect on moving out for them to use part of your deposit to replace the metal plates under the stove top burners, carpet cleaning, and blind replacement. Poor security as everyone has the code to get through the security doors. Overall, I had a poor and stressful experience living at West Pier Place.
