Resident ā€¢ 2007 - 2013

10/20/2013

I lived at Oak Hill for 6.5 yrs (and also for 2 yrs when I was in college) and left in 2013 to relocate out of state. I lived in 2 different apts and overall its the best place I have ever lived. It is NOT perfect but after living in other rentals in other states as well, its the best maintained and the best equipped. As a single woman I could have my cats there and felt safe & all of my immediate neighbors were single and professional as well. I did have one issue w/ noise that was quickly resolved. Positives: ~Pet friendly and did not rake me over the coals w/ fees when I moved out and I got ALL my sec dep back and I did not damage anything either that was out of normal wear and tear. Please people make sure u get your animals fixed to avoid their behavior problems and big fees from spraying, urination, crying, etc and DONT let your cats outside! Also, If u don't like geese, dont live off of the ponds because they are naturally noisey & keep your kids away from them as well for they get protective (what we think is aggressive) in the spring of their young and nests. ~The most beautiful & safest place to walk!!! Its a 2.8 mile loop around the entire complex if u walk all courts and u can see herons early AM. ~Maintenance responds fast, w/in a day, and they don't mess around and fix things and replace w/out a hassle. I got a new stove and frige. ~Appreciated the security staff and the guard gate. Belinda and Jacob especially went out of their way to keep that place in order. ~My apt was not a total remodel yet everything was newer and clean and it felt nice coming home to a nice place. I also LOVED having a stackable W/D in my unit and a carport. They do a lot of preventative maintenance and don't wait for everything to break which is good. ~No water or trash bills (unlike the $35 mo. fee I pay now) and LOTS of trash containers that are emptied very often. ~Mgt takes complaints seriously and if u have one, prepare to put it in writing. Negatives: ~My rent was jacked $200 mo in 2013 after having lived there 6 yrs w/ no issues!! This was a MAJOR shock and impacted me financially. Yet, I did come in extremely low in rent in 07' when economy was in tank & I had a cap on my lease for several yrs luckily. While the economy did pick up, I was upset w/ them and let them know. I ended up leaving because I was relocating anyway and even w/ higher rent its still the best place to live I think, yet I would not pay more than what they socked me with. ~I did not the landscaping corp who were there for an entire day and kept coming by my apt throughout the day and feel they could be more efficient in their jobs . ~Families were starting to move in. YUCK!! I did NOT appreciate toddler/kids around my home due to noises and toys...and I especially did not like seeing them running around unsupervised & the pond and terrorizing the birds and their noise pollution. ~The mgt company changed back in 2010 and the current staff is cut-throat corporate like. There are some positives to this though if u follow the rules, yet there is NO LOYALTY TO GREAT LONG TIME TENANTS like they used to be. Yet, they are responsive and do try to help. ~Not as many professional people live there like there was when I moved in 2007. Yet definitely not a ------ (yet there are a few and u cant live anywhere and avoid this type for good). Overall yes I would move back and just might again if I move back to Michigan w/in next few years.
