We had to move quickly because the home we had been renting for 15 years was being sold.
At that time Woodcrest had just been bought by another company and was large enough that we had no trouble finding vacancies. It seemed a little bit rundown but had benefits. The things we liked at that time were the woods in back, the fireplace, and it was close to so many stores and major freeways. We also loved the storage room, which is unusual. Many apts. have those "chicken coop" type storage units in the basement. Also the floor plan was good....so much storage space with the double pantries in the kitchen, the big closets, and we liked the entertainment counter that opens into the dining area. The faults were that it didn't seem real clean when we moved in...the paint job was awful and paint was splashed on the floor, doors, counters. Calking in the bathroom was old, cracked and there seemed to be some black mold after a few weeks.
Since we've lived here we have really seen it deteriorate. The landscaping as you come in looks nice, but the buildings are awful. Carpeting in the entrances is dirty, stained, smells terrible and I think is dangerous, health wise. Filthy laundry rooms that we can't stand to even go in anymore. We have had so many problems with loud music and neighbors who appear to be dealing drugs. Trash is awful....people seem to use the parking lot and space outside the buildings as a garbage disposal. Many times when police are in the complex for whatever reason ( I probably don't want to know.)
Bottom line...I know people who lived here years ago and it was beautiful, safe, and a great place to live. No more and isn't that sad? Unless something is done, this complex will come to be seen as an unsafe and ugly residence. We are on limited income, but pay our own rent. When we are able and can afford to do so, we will be moving. I think over the years previous owners have let this place deteriorate to the point that it's almost too late to bring it to an acceptable standard.
I would not recommend living here for any length of time.
