While the unit itself (a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom) was fine, one of my issues was how incredibly discourtious the neighbors are. You get people yelling in the halls as well as in the parking lot at all hours of the day. Not to mention hoards of children rampaging through the building unsupervised.
The building I was in was completely unsecure. Either some of the tenants or their friends would jam the locks on the doors, giving access to anyone who wanted in. This little problem ultimately became a factor when my unit was broken into and robbed.
All the issues with damage when I moved in had not been addressed at all. My patio screen remained torn, my window screens stayed bent. Both of these issues made it difficult to leave a window open during the summer, unless I wanted an insect infestation. I guess that wouldn't have made much of a difference as I'm sure the roaches would have enjoyed some company.
The heater/air conditioner was very noisy when in use. Almost like an industrial vent unit. I only wish I was over exaggerating.
The neighbors constantly leave bags of trash in front of the chute, out in the hall which cause horrible smells.
Lastly, you may be lulled into a false sense of security when you see patrol cars circling the complex just about every night.
Oh, and there are weekly fire drills (well, maybe bi-weekly). No one seems to know how to work an oven in this place.
If you do decide to live here (I can't imagine why) then be extra cautious and be sure to get renters insurance.
