This was an alright first apartment.
The good:
-Right next to campus
-Individually leased (don't have to worry about roommates involvement in rent, but same time they over-price them because the individual lease.
-If you can pay up front for your leases rent you save I think it's 5% on total, which is a lot, considering some apartments cost up to $420 a month for an INDIVIDUAL lease.
-You can work off some of your rent for $10.00 an hour.
-Hardly had to turn on heat being on 2nd floor, I think between being on the middle floor and having surrounding apartments we got enough from everyone else.
The bad:
-Overpriced. My apartment was in Village 1. 3 bedroom (all pretty small), 1 bathroom, VERY small kitchen, no dining room, ok living room size. It was too basic for the cost, hardly any amenities, didn't have an at home feel to it at all.
-Noise. There were parties EVERY night. I understand it's all students, but there are supposed to be 'policies' to prevent it but I didn't feel they were enforced.
-Parking. There were some close spots, but very few. You have to have to be renewing or really quick to sign your lease to get a good spot, my lot was 2 blocks away. NOT fun in the winter.
-Plumbing. Using the slightest bit too much toilet paper and your toilet is clogged. Go one week without cleaning your tub drain and that doesn't drain either.
-Dishwasher leaked water.
-Carpets were stained.
-Security staff. Apparently they have them? Towards interview I was asked to fill out a review of the place and to rate the security staff. The whole year I was there until then I had no idea there was anyone. Nobody I ever saw.
-Water. If you have roomies, good luck all being able to take a hot shower in the morning. 5 minutes and hot water is GONE.
-Pets aren't allowed, but someone on 3rd floor of my apt had a very noisy little dog. ugh.
