Resident 2014 - 2015

8/11/2015

------ Management, Mediocre Building, Not Worth The Price For the sky-high prices you're paying, you'd think it would be a nice place. 1. Price - insane. You can literally rent an entire house for what a 1 bedroom costs here - over $1500 with parking. 2. Utility Bills - sky high. In the units smaller than a 1 bedroom you don't save much money because they installed an electric heater rather than gas. My usual $30 electric bill skyrockets to over $100 per month in the winter. 3. Parking - a nightmare. There's nowhere to park after 10pm. Better get an underground stall and not want to have any friends over because they aren't going to be able to find parking. Note that it's still over a mile walk to get to the edge of uptown, so you don't get the "at least I can walk home from the bar" advantage either. 4. Pool - can't have more than 3 people at it including yourself according to their official policy which includes everyone wearing wristbands like you're 5 at a kiddy pool. (To be fair, I don't think anyone follows the rules anyways, but they'll glare at you angrily telling you about this when you move in). 5. Extra Fees - they try to gouge you every chance they get on fees. Lose your keys? They charge you over $100 to replace one set of them. They give you all this stuff like wristbands when you move in - misplace those? Also over $100. Also, they get bizarre about how you pay if you lose them, not accepting cash. 6. Paying Rent - can't pay online without getting gouged with more fees. Their only option is to pay by credit card with huge fees attached, if you don't want extra fees you have to pay by personal check. And if you're late? Not only do they charge you fees, they give you an additional "screw you" by refusing to accept you paying them by check. Either you have to use their online credit card gouging system, or go to the bank and get a cashier's check for additional fees. 7. Moving In - the "move in" location involves - I wish I was kidding about this - walking directly across the area where residents let their dogs poop and pee. There's a longer sidewalk around it, this I did not know until I started to wonder why my shoes smelled like pee. It's also just generally an awful location to unload at, you have to block several cars in the parking lot, hope they don't need to leave while you're unloading. 8. My refrigerator makes weird farting noises. Not sure how else to describe it, not constantly but periodically on a regular basis you'll be watching tv in the living room and the frig will start in with various noises that sound like bodily functions. 9. If you don't get a real full 1 bedroom, hope you like hearing all the noises in the hall and them hearing you because you will. Several times have walked down the hallway past people's units hearing them having sex. 10. Spotlights that point at the building can be an issue if you want to use your porch at night, or I suspect if your bedroom window is in the wrong location. 11. If you ever lose your apartment keys, hope no one you don't want into your apt gets your keys, because reporting them missing or stolen and management saying they've been "deactivated" doesn't stop them from unlocking your door anyways.
