Resident 2009 - 2010

1/12/2010

The apartment itself is great. You can tell the paint just gets painted over the old paint and that's why small holes in the walls form easily. Our apartment got new carpet before moving in. Kitchen is small but good for a college student near campus. Rent goes up every October which is a pain. They're probably raising it until it reaches a cap. You can't hear the neighbors when they're in their apartment, but you can hear them in the halls. When you close the windows, you can't hear outside noise. Maintenance is okay. The front desk office doesn't seem knowlegdable. Told me that the $40 membership is a one time fee when in fact it only lasts a certain amount of years. Elevators just got upgraded but are still slow and break down at least once a week (which is not good if you live on an upper floor). Staff members can and will enter your apartment at any time. So privacy of personal belongings is an issue. The Vietnamese restaurant on the first floor is convenient if you like Asian food. Parking for guests is a real hassle. They either have to park in a residential spot one, two, sometimes three blocks away, pay in the meter, or park free from 10pm-8am or on free on Sundays. There are these events that the Chateau holds every once in a while... I've never gone, but it's supposedly a good way to meet other people if you're in town or something. Pet deposit is reasonable. People in the building are nice. Haven't encountered anyone mean yet... Packages are an issue. When you have a package, all you do is go into the office and find it in a big pile of other packages. The front desk doesn't even confirm if you took the right package... so you can take someone else's package for all they know. Uhmm all in all, good apartment. Not perfect... but it works if you're in college and need a place. As of right now, the prices are decent... but in a few years it might be highly expensive. Oh and the views are good. Depending on location, you can see skyline of downtown or views of the school or stadium. Laundry is onsite. And if you like bars, there are plently nearby!
