Eitel Building Apartments

I moved in several months ago, and have very mixed feelings about the Eitel complex. Pluses: Excellent location literally on the edge of Loring Park and a short sidewalk stroll to the Loring Greenway and Nicollet Mall. Within sight (and sound) of two beautiful church bell towers. A roof patio with gorgeous sunset views over Loring Park to the west, and downtown Mpls to the east. The walls are solid enough so that I rarely hear neighbors through them (unlike the floors). The concierge is consistently upbeat and helpful. Minuses: Many residents have dogs, and not all the residents are conscientious about cleaning up accidents on the hallway carpets. Almost the entire staff has turned over at least once since I moved in. The maintenance and cleaning staff seems overwhelmed. If you're not in the "historic section" of the complex, the floors are thin and you WILL hear your upstairs neighbors walking around on your ceiling. The lease contract has a clause where, if you break the lease, you pay a fee of 1-month's rent and also must continue to pay monthly rent for the duration of the lease or until the management finds a new tenant for your apartment.
