The Cliffs of Minnetonka
Resident • 2013 Not Recommended
I spent 7 1/2 months residing at the Cliffs. I initially moved in at a special rate and my first contacts with Natalie in the leasing office were pleasant, however it went drastically downhill from that point on. I liked my apartment, however in the first week a leaky bathroom faucet started as an annoyance and turned into a major problem. Initial calls to investigate were ignored, my apartment was entered without my knowledge and I was left with no hot water for 2 days. When I finally got someone to respond to that, I was left with NO water at ALL for an additional 2 days. Within a few days of this, I discovered that my bathroom and kitchen were infested with small red ants. Because of the lack of responsiveness with the water situation, I bought ant killer and decided to take care of it myself. When a 2 inch millipede fell onto my head from my 20 foot ceiling, I had had enough. They did respond with an exterminator in a timely manner. The apartment was noisy, and while they were very sweet, there were children left unattended often in the garage and pool area. My mother was hospitalized 350 miles away and I put my rent check in the box late on the evening it was due. I was charged late fees and had to appeal to the sensitivity of Kyle to get them removed, even though I was in fact, on time with my rent. Then my dryer stopped working and I reported it to natalie in the leasing office. My concerns and need to get it fixed were met with eye rolling and attitude. It took 10 days to get it fixed but they would not reimburse me for any inconvenience or laundromat fees. When my lease was nearing completion of the 6 months, they raised my rent almost $300. I asked for consideration to leave my rent as it is and was told that this should not be a problem but that they would "get back to me". When no one did, I called the leasing office on numerous occasions and was told that there was no record of me even asking. I decided that I was leaving and once I submitted my notice my apartment was shown multiple times without my permission and I was told that I did not have a right to be there when it was shown. While I met many nice people at the Cliffs, the office staff was not among them. I wish I had read the reviews prior to moving to the Cliffs. I would have chosen far more carefully. I would not recommend the Cliffs to anyone.
