I have a like/hate relationship with The Island. Let's start with the good..... it's a great location and has a pool. People are cool for the most part (although there are slobs that think they are the only ones living here, never ceases to amaze me). Now for the negative.... This is the cheapest construction I have ever lived in. You can hear your neighbors above, below, on the side. There are only 2 elevators on opposite sides of the building (conveniently located for about 10 units). You have to plan an extra 3-4 minutes if you will be using them. Appliances are the lowest of the low end, cupboards, cabinets are so cheap, washer and dryers don't clean. Carpets in the community area are very dirty. They nickel and dime for everything; nothing is included in rent (oh a parking spot, in which people park in the 5 space guest parking so you don't even need one). This community spends more money on landscaping (with daily leaf blowers blaring) than they do on making the interior nice. The sound system sucks and the community room TV is garbage. Grills outside work half the time, always a struggle to turn on.
