Resident 2016

5/28/2016

I am a Best Buy employee and decided to live here based on the easy access to work. Also, my wife and I rented out our main house while she and our daughter stay in our second home down south for a year. I thought staying at Concierge would be easy, cheap, and convenient. A few warnings: Get everything in writing. Management verbally shared information with us that they later said never happened. For example, my wife and daughter are staying periodically for two weeks before they permanently leave for our second home in another state. Seems simply, right? Nope, we were told it was illegal for them to stay longer than 7 days without being on the lease. My wife agreed to be on the lease, then they said it was illegal for the three of us to be in my apartment. Good thing my wife is traveling next week, but it sad that my family cannot visit me for two weeks. I've reported this to the owner and will let you know if I hear back from him. Again, get everything in writing. Of course they will encourage you to move in as soon as possible. Thus, I signed up to move in mid-month, instead of the 1st. I was then told that I could only have the two weeks free rent instead of the advertised month. I contested, and I'm still getting a month free, as promised. Watch out for tricks. The fee to hold the apartment is $200. They will tell you that you have to sign a lease at the same time you place an apartment on hold. Of course that doesn't make sense. What's the point of holding an apartment if you have to sign a lease? Push them, ask them for the official policy, and they will say you have until the end of the hold date to sign the lease, and not the same time as you hold the apartment. I was also surprised that they do not remodel the bathrooms. I spent two hours cleaning the grim in the bathroom when I moved in. I wish I turned on the wall air conditioner unit during my tour. It is extremely, extremely loud and must be extremely cheap. I wish I could buy my own, but I'm sure they'll have a policy against that. Also, note that there is no ac in the bedroom, which means you'll have to run the loud wall unit and leave your bedroom door open. Things you will not know from the walk through. The walls are paper thin; you can hear your neighbor's talking, not screaming. Try to get a top floor. You can hear your neighbor's walking; they don't have to stomp. I'll keep you updated, and I hope this year goes by fast.
