Resident 2018 - 2019

3/15/2019

We were new to the Rochester, MN area and looked at a variety of different apartments and townhomes. We stumbled across The Brittany's, took a tour of a home and immediately knew it was the place we wanted to live. The business is built, owned, and family operated. They're kind individuals and I know if I ever had a problem or issue, I could contact them and they would take care of us. Management is very communicative and makes an effort to avoid inconveniences. While we haven't lived in their apartments, the townhomes are awesome. We love the fireplace in the winter and the patio in the summer. There's no overnight parking allowed on the pavement, (in order to make room for maintenance, snow removal, or other emergency vehicles) but each townhome has a double garage. The neighbors are usually quiet and we've never had any problems. You might hear the occasional music or dishes being moved, but it has never impacted our sleep or leisure time. There's no fancy pool or gym, but the space we have in our townhome allowed us to keep a treadmill downstairs. IBM and Douglas Trail are very close to The Brittney's. They both have biking/running trails that go on for miles. IBM is also a free park-and-ride spot for all you Mayo employees/students. Target, Costco and multiple banks, liquor, and grocery stores are about a 5-10 min drive. You don't even need to get on the highway to get to them. If you do need to get to the highway, it will take about 5 minutes. We've only had to call maintenance once and it was for a slow draining sink. They quickly fixed it (on a weekend day too) and that was the end of it. Easy and simple. As far as complaints go, we really don't have many. Sometimes the white paint they use can get marked up easily, but we just touch it up with some paint they gave us. The entryway can let out some heat in the winter but is easily fixed with a door draft stopper. Appliances are a little dated, but they work just fine. There are also certain requirements that every tenant must meet (like every Property Company, this is not uncommon). These requirements made us feel a lot safer since we were moving to a city we never lived in before. I won't go into detail but would recommend contacting The Britany's if you'd like to know what the requirements are. Additionally, they've done Radon testing and have proof for every single unit if that's a concern for you. Rent can get up there on some units, but ours is okay and in range of what other companies were asking when we looked. You can absolutely find cheaper rent elsewhere, but for less space or poorer quality. Overall, we're very happy living at The Brittany's and I would have no problem recommending them to anyone who moves to the Rochester, MN area. If you'll only have to live here for a few years, it's a great place to live. If you plan on living in Rochester for the next 30 years and don't want to own a home, it's a great place to live. These opinions are my own. I was not pressured or given free rent to write this, we sincerely enjoy living at The Brittany's.
