I have been a long time resident, and have seen a drastic decline in the living quality ever since the new building (Flats) opened and ever since the management turnover. In summary: increased prices, and a management team that does not give an F. I used to love living in the Lofts and was proud to call this my home. I realize what made the difference: the staff. These days, management doesn't seem to care or train their employees well. When C&E added Flats, they doubled their resident numbers, but somehow their management staff dwindled. Seems like they hire the first person that walks in the door, so the turnover is high; there's a lack of communication with the residents. Current manager has admitted to turning off his cell and email when he leaves work, and stating that he doesn't like to shovel - this is alarming considering the plowing and towing contracts were screwed up this year. When they switched to a new towing company, they failed to notify the residents, and ALL cars in guest parking were towed one morning. My partner and I had to take time off work to deal with this, but saw no restitution or remorse from management. The building went from classy to tacky. There are cheap paper flyers canvassed around the building, instead of communicating with the residents via email. There are tacky advertisements in the elevators of the benefits of renting - if every resident in your building rents, there's no need to advertise the joys of renting…yet, there they are. Worst of all, annual rent increases are skyrocketing, there have been over $100 monthly rent increases as of late. Longtime residents are moving out at alarming rates, and the rest of us have been talking about doing the same. There is more vacancy than I've ever witnessed in 5 years. I'm shocked that corporate hasn't caught wind of this, or maybe they don't care.
