My advice to anyone out there is to avoid the Gatehouse apartments! I stayed in the apartment for three months, and barely spent any time there because of my job as a biomedical scientist. When the time came for me to leave, I cleaned the apartment up completely, so that it was cleaner than when I first came there. The initial management person who came to do my review suggested that the floor was dirty and would have to be mopped (the floor had already been cleaned thoroughly). She also claimed to find some small crumbs on the inside of the fridge. I complained that I did not think that it was dirty, so she called in her manager. The manager then came in and agreed with her assessment. He told me that it would cost $15-20 or I could scrub it to their satisfaction right there in front of him. I told him no thanks, and said I was going to complain about this situation. When I later got my deposit statement back, they charged me $185 from my deposit for "cleaning and painting". So of course they did not keep their word, likely because I challenged them. Apartment owners often complain about bad tenants destroying their property. The truth is that the management is in some cases just as unethical as these tenants. What they did was just a legalized form of stealing. I would never recommend Gatehouse Apartments or Homkor managed properties to anyone.

Mills Properties took over management late in 2010 and has been improving things since then. Feel free to stop in sometime and check out all the updates including the new clubhouse!
