Resident 2004 - 2007

5/23/2007

This place is so not worth your time. My roommate and I have lived here for 2 years, and while I haven't had any complaints with the maintenance performance (the guys were always very polite and generally punctual) I do have to say that there are much much much better apartments available in Columbia. Drug busts, shady characters, paper thin walls, iggnorant neighbors are all a common occurence at good ol' Holiday House. The paint on the walls comes off very easily, the air conditioner is awful (leaving the living room ice cold and forcing you to develop very interesting ways of designing your own personal cooling method of the apt. with fans), the main office is very misleading (they told us when we were checking out the apt. that it is fairly easy to get our security deposit back and thats a load of crap), the building has awful wiring for their internet connection which the cable company cannot fix because it is internal wiring and the landlord has a clause in the lease exempting them from any responsibly towards bettering the wiring which would give you a better connection, also they take forever during the winter time to clear off the parking lots (my roommate and i had to resort to digging our cars out with cookie sheets because they plowed our cars in). While the rates for this apartment are low, you are most definitely getting what you paid for, there is no security to the premises and the other day there was a drug bust in a building next to us and they had a sniper on the roof, you will often find large groups of people standing outside and often leaning on your cars, the buildings themselves have peeling paint, graffiti, and the laundry room is an absolute joke (2 washers and 2 dryers for an entire building give me a break). I would not advise anyone to live here, there are much better apartments around Columbia with better security and better facilities. If you do decide to take a look here, keep in mind the apartment they show you is NOTHING compared to the one you will actually move into, and also read and re-read your lease VERY carefully. The main office is shady and they will nickle and dime you for everything, mislead you if they can, and contradict information previously given to you. Save yourselves the trouble and look elsewhere.
