I have lived in a lot of apartments in my lifetime and never had as many issues as I did here at Riverstone, which really surprised me considering the cost of rent. I chose this community when I moved to Kansas City from California for work - from the initial application process, I had some concerns. The staff was very slow to respond to any questions which made things very difficult as I was obviously living in California at the time. I was never able to actually tour an apartment due to my circumstances and ended up choosing Riverstone based on the information on their website as well as the location. The first day I arrived to get my keys, I was literally handed my keys and shoo'd away - not welcoming whatsoever. I then ended up having to wait weeks to finally get a mailbox key and when I signed my lease, there was a promotion for a free $250 gift card...a year later and I still haven't seen a gift card even after inquiring multiple times. The apartment itself has been wonderful and I do enjoy having the attached garage but I still feel that this complex is WAY overpriced! My year lease was coming to an end and I came home one day to a note on my door stating I would need to renew for a 13 MONTH LEASE and they would only increase my rent by another $50 or I could go month to month and they could increase it about $300. I instantly began looking for another place to live. This complex does nothing to retain its residents and charges for every little thing imaginable. When I went to put in an application with another apartment complex who has already been much more helpful and attentive, they attempted multiple times to reach out to Riverstone by phone and email to verify my information and ensure I've been paying rent on time, etc. and Riverstone never got back to them. I also tried to contact the office multiple times, as well - no luck. Due to this, my new apartment complex is now having to charge me an extra deposit fee - just another reason to add to my list of reasons why living at Riverstone has been a horrible experience. In regards to other aspects of the community, the trash is constantly overflowing, the gym setup is small and mediocre, and the actual appliances within the apartment unit are pretty "cheap". There's a room were packages are kept within the office but good luck ever being able to find your packages because the room is always a mess. I only had to request maintenance a couple of times and I will say that they were quick to respond, which is great. The only other positive I can really think of is that they did keep the complex very well maintained during this horrible winter we just had. The community has been doing a lot of "upgrades" recently but nothing that is going to make the experience any better, in my opinion.
