The management does a good job with some things. But they recently decided that residents are not allowed to have visitors park after 6pm. Anyone who does gets towed. I was told my friends and family could get an Uber to come visit me after work. I've never heard of such a thing. If I would have known this would be the policy, I would not have signed a lease for this place. Of course their response is that this is for the residents' benefit. But for myself and many others it is definitely not.

    Since I have moved here I have had a wonderful experience until this new parking enforcement where visitors have to be registered. I understand those cars that have no license plates cars that have expired plates but just cuz I have visitors they won’t be able to park that’s ridiculous.

      Amazing Customer service!

      I will start off by saying that this apartment community has been the best I have worked with! They are all always so polite, helpful, and so so friendly. The community is very well kept and the area is beautiful, I absolutely love being able to see small wildlife near the pond when I go for walks. All of the staff is quick to respond to any questions or concerns I have. Huge kudos to the office staff who are always able to treat me like a person and not just a customer. They really go out of their way to try and remember each resident. The apartments are an excellent size and fit perfectly in my price range, I love that I am able to bring my own washer and dryer! Finally the office is always working on community building, they frequently host events such as a trunk or treat, a movie night, and even a wine tasting! They are always going above and beyond to make sure that all of the residents feel welcome and are happy to call their apartment not just a place to live, but truly a home.

        I love living here. Staff is always helpful and very friendly and maintenance team is always helpful and prompt on fixing issues and keeping the grounds clean and safe.           Multiple Car Thefts & Terrible A/C

          The only good things about this complex are Pamela in the office and maintenance who were always friendly, helpful and prompt. My husband’s truck was stolen the second night after moving into the Retreat. I noticed on a recent Google review that management responded with, “Unfortunately, crime doesn't have an address and can happen anywhere at any time, when it does, we take all of the proper steps to cooperate with the authorities.” when replying to a review about a different resident’s vehicle being stolen and another broken in to. This is true…but here is my issue. The Retreat has an app where you can pay your rent, receive notifications and post on the community bulletin board. Of course, I posted on the community bulletin board in attempt to see if anybody noticed our truck being stolen. Management NEVER APPROVED THE POST. I even reached out to the office directly asking them to approve the post and they never replied. I submitted the post on February 7th, 2022 and have a screen shot where the post is “Pending Approval” from July 21st, 2022.             I cannot in good conscience recommend this apartment complex. I was on the fence about what kind of review I'd leave but their coming back to me telling me I owe them basically over $400 after moving out. I lived here for over two years and while it was okay for the price of $789 when I first moved in, they're now charging upwards of $1k, and it's not worth it. In fact, I urge you to steer clear. The units are riddled with issues that make it a frustrating and unpleasant place to live. Here are just a few: - You'll hear every single step your upstairs neighbors take. I'm not kidding when I say that the sound is akin to a loud creek or moaning, and it's pretty bad. You'll know at every moment what room they're in, and it's just not ideal. I even went as far as recording videos of the noise to show friends and family. - If you live on the top floor, you'll hear raccoons instead of human footsteps.                 They have no cameras in the parking lots and there are a lot of break ins. This is the only place I lived in and had my vehicle broken into. They have no interest in putting up cameras so good luck with that. They only have one dumpster so you have to haul your trash in your vehicle. I went an entire month without A/C. They will not update their decks or ramps. I've seen someone fall through the ramp going to my building and they only replaced the board that broke. I almost went through one of the steps and again they only replaced the board that broke. The wood is very old and rotting. A animal dug a hole in the side of my building and they just put a 2" X 4" in it and used expanding foam as a fix. I moved for my safety because of their rotting walkways. To top it all off they are trying to make me pay for drywall damage caused by the building sinking.

                  This place only cares about 1 thing your money (as most of them do) Staff? What staff, you email them and they will not email you back! They will not take complaints seriously. When they send over Maintenance they rarely have a clue on what they are doing; been by 4 times to fix a running toilet that still runs constantly. They are their for a paycheck only. Do not rent from here. Also they put 100% of their money in to there front office, YOU will be stuck in a damp moldy apartment. Stay away.

                    Wrote an earlier review to win money off rent, doesn't represent the truth. 0 out of 5 stars is the only score for this place. Horrible relationship through the process, probably because they always have turnover of office staff under the horrible management. Way too many items to list here are wrong with this dump, take the extra time when searching and find a better place to rent. A rat would sniff this place and walk the other way.                       Moved here in May, everything has been pretty great. Besides the pool not being open all summer, don't really have any complaints. I love the walking trails and the maintenance people are quick with responses. I guess if I could change one thing it would be the fitness center, updates on equipment could be beneficial.

                        We first moved here because we have a Pit mix and this apartment complex was one of the few places without breed restrictions! after living here for awhile I can honestly say it is better than I expected! We are very close to the highway, making it easy to get basically anywhere..and we are very close to all grocery stores (including Sam's club!). I love the walking trails throughout the property and our neighbors are very friendly.

                            I moved into The Retreat back in August and I do love the views here, along with the fact that it has a balcony. They have free parking optional, and they are only a 10 minute drive from downtown KC. For the price, it is a great deal. I will say, this is an older apartment, so that comes with some cons (although maintenance has done a great job at fixing anything in our apartment). The only other con to this apartment is that the room we moved into had some minor damages and a strong cigarette smell that has not gone away, as many people around us smoke. For the price, it's overall a great apartment to live at!

                              My partner and I have lived here for 2 years and we love it. Great location and very nice outside areas. There is a dog park for our 7 year old chinwa and it's really close to several grocery stores. I run through the neighborhood when I work out and have never had issues with crime.

                                  We have lived here over two years now and we have noticed a few things about this apartment complex. Location is great yet the feeling of being safe is thrown out the window as my vehicle and many others have been broken into. The complex only updates the look of the property when it is getting towards moving season which leaves the place looking awful from summer's end til spring. The staff is polite until they contractually find something to charge you with. They also provide a lot of empty promises with their tenants such as "updated appliances, wooded views or new carpet" which never happens. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. The timeliness of maintenance is one of the few perks but I don't know if that is truly a perk or lack of routine maintenance in general.

                                    The Complex is awful, unreliable, and unfair. They WILL rip you off. They will have you paying far too much for a One Bedroom. Everything is old and broken. You will have to submit maintenance request constantly because the maintaince is so inefficient, they just glue things back together only for it to brake again in a day or too. The A/C units are a joke. They DO NOT WORK. Especially when you need them the most during the hot, humid summer. I even had one of the maintenance men explain to me why my unit will not work because the complex installed the electrical wiring incorrectly. DO NOT EXPECT YOUR DEPOSIT TO BE REFUNDED. I paid 400 dollars for a deposit and they refunded me 140 dollars back due to some scratches on the kitchen counter. ITS A SCAM. Keep in mind this place is like 20 years old and everything, from the paint on the walls to the kitchen surfaces, is old and has not been replaced in years. DO NOT RENT HERE.                                       MAKE SURE YOU SEE THE APARTMENT BEFORE YOU MOVE IN! No one would allow me to see the one bedroom I rented and it was nothing like the model. Unless you want to live in something that looks like a cheap motel, stay away from The Retreat. Was so disappointed to find out how run down, outdated, filthy, and unmaintained the apartment was. They don't want to fix anything and will only upgrade the 30 year old appliances at your expense each month to the lowest possible builder grade. Rent is unbelievably high and their only concern is how much money they can get out of you while you're there. Did not feel safe not one day I lived there and suggested to management how dark the parking lot and walkway was coming in to my apartment and was completely ignored. The pool was closed for maintenance as well as by the Health Dept half the summer so you were paying for an amenity you could never use.                                         You can't beat the location, so close to the Downtown area and highways. The apartments themselves are decent, the large windows and vaulted ceilings are nice. I enjoyed walking around the complex, using the gym and pool. My only grievance with the Retreat is ---- the Assistant Property Manager. He is extremely defensive when asked any type of question and also very condescending. Every conversation I've had with him regarding any issue or even just general questions, he has been short with me. Talking with neighbors I am not the only one that thinks that. There were a couple of issues I had brought to his attention, when he was not able to resolve them and I had to seek help through other staff members, I thought he became a little vindictive. I won't go to deep into it. I do like all of the other staff members. ---- is one reason I would not recommend the RAWC. Not only do I think he's not cut out for property management/customer service due to his disorganization and poor communication but I also think he is mentally unstable.

                                          Don't move here. After 1.5 years my car has been broken into twice. The lease says they are not liable but when the police told me every couple months there is a string of break ins I would expect them to at least send out a crime notice to residents and keep them informed of if the security patroll is increasing their rounds. I also would expect them to have better customer service when dealing with these issues. Essentially I was told that keeping items in my car is asking for it. The first time my car was broken into nothing was stolen they just attempted to hot wire the car. The second time a few items that were out of site in a glove box and a car maintenance kit I keep in the back were stolen. It's not worth living here if every 6 months I need to replace my car windows and repair damages due to break ins.

                                              The only benefit to Retreat is their close proximity to the city. We had many problems while living here for a year such as poor management, black mold, lack of parking spots, and more. The management had very poor communication skills. They would give us notices through emails that were often wrong and post notices on our apartment door (which would often be lost). We had black mold in our closets and showers and maintenance didn't fix it. In all, our experience with Retreat was extremely disappointing and we left feeling robbed.

                                                  I highly do not recommend this place, especially if you travel for work. When I first moved in the garbage disposal did not work, bathtub drain was clogged and one of the outlets in the bathroom was installed backwards. I moved into The retreat in October 2016. I was traveling 7 weeks straight for work and flew back for the weekend to move my stuff into my apartment. While I was gone my car tags had expired 7 days and they sent out a generic email the day of it being towed to all of the residents giving and estimate number of how many cars that were about to be towed due to their parking violations. I calledl as soon as I see the email to tell them my situation. I know my tags were expired and I will be returning home the following week. They inform me I will not be towed and I will get it taken care of first thing Monday when i get back. When I came back home found out my car had been towed.
