Resident 2005

11/13/2005

Right from the beginning I had problems with this place.
I lived in one of the Townhouses and when we moved in we were shocked to discover a freestanding puddle of water on the carpet in the living room- apparantly the water heater busted. It took them two weeks to fix this and by then there was structural damage to the wall around the heater as well. This later came out of our security deposit. They never fixed the screen door on the patio- that remained brokent the entire year we lived there. There was an ant problem that we managed to fix on our own and the fixture holding the window blinds to the wall came out one night and fell on us while we were watching TV- we had to fix that ourselves, too. There was a smell that never went away, no matter how hard I cleaned or tried to air out the apartment. My assumption is that it *might* have been from the leaking water heater.
Definately drug activity- while we were moving our furniture into the place, we noticed a warrant and eviction notice on the townhome next door to us- the cops came by about a month later and took all evidence out of the apartment and left the refrigerator (with stuff still in it) on the patio for everyone to see and smell the things decaying inside. Nice.
Parking is lousy, and it was difficult to navigate through the parking lot because of all the people standing around. There were a couple of nice neighbors, but overall the rest made me feel uncomfortable and I know my mail was stolen a few times.
The management was terrible. It took forever to get them to fix anything and usually several times for them to get it right. We almost always had problems with the Main Office concerning our rent fees- we were forever coming home to notes on our door, threatening to evict us if we didn't pay- but when I called the bank, the check had been cashed already. When I asked management about it, they always said that so-and-so didn't tell them they had cashed the check or that it wasn't entered into the records yet. When we moved out, they charged us $450, stating there were numerous things they had to fix and they had to replace the entire carpet (perhaps due to water damage, hm?), but they didn't tell us this until a month after we had moved out and also threatened to contact the credit bureau if we didn't pay.
Overall, I was not happy with the condition of the townhouse, the "maintenance" that was kept on the area, and I never felt safe while living there. I can chalk it up to a learning experience, but I would never recommend this place to anyone.
