I lived at Brentwood Village in 2012 and 2013 with a roommate while attending college. Living at Brentwood was my first apartment experience - and it was a great one!
When we moved in, we had an issue with our hot water not lasting more then 5 minutes. After a call to Terra, a maintenance technician stopped by the next day to replace one of the heating elements from the hot water heater.
The complex is located in a nice, safe area, close to everything. Everything you need is a few minutes away. There's a fair amount of sidewalk if you want to go for a walk or run.
The construction is fairly new, I would say they were constructed with-in the past 10 years. The apartment appliances were all electric with water and curb-side trash service was included in rent. The bedrooms, hallway, and living rooms have carpet. Ours had little sign of previous tenants living in our unit.
There were a few times at night when I would lay down for bed I could hear the neighbors that lived below us. Not going to elaborate on what could be heard, but give the guy a few minutes and then it's quiet. It's an apartment - not exactly going to be soundproof.
The rule of thumb in St. Joseph is, if you want a good apartment rent east of the Belt Highway (with the exception of Mitchell Park Plaza -- which is expensive). Brentwood Village would be the first place I would recommend in St. Joseph if searching for a reasonably priced, 2-bedroom in a great location.
