Resident 2016 - 2017

6/28/2017

ved here for one year 2013-2014 when I attended SLU. Great distance to walk and I was rarely home due to school. Had no complaints. Returned in 2016 to a completely different climate. Children are everywhere and they behave as children, which is understandable. My unit has the playground directly behind it so I can't even back out of my parking space without avoiding 3-4 children in the street who are not being supervised in any way. I have to constantly ask them to stay out of the street and to not play around or throw their balls near my car. Every morning, I have to clean up behind my place because they've thrown their trash or snacks on the ground in the playground area. I was rushed to move into my apartment saying that everything was ready and I could pick up the key at any time. For the first three days, my A/C did not work. I moved in on a Thursday and had to wait until Monday for it to be repaired. Following this, my washer did not work and would literally flood the entire utility closet and kitchen every time I tried to use it. Reported the issue, "a new one was ordered," and it took me about two months to receive it. HOWEVER, there was no discount on my $800 rent that I paid for a 1 bedroom with an IN-UNIT washer and dryer. Due to the washer flooding, there was water sitting under my kitchen vinyl. It smells rotten and has caused the vinyl to peel upwards. My washer issue was the first month I moved in. I am currently 10 months into my lease and my floor still hasn't been replaced. After this, I had an issue with my front door lock. I would turn the key and hear the lock unlock, but could not push the door open. I eventually found out that this was due to a piece of wood stuck inside of the doorframe from when the lock was previously replaced. Reported this to the front office and they told me "just turn the key hard and lift up on the handle, it'll open." The office staff does their best to sell these units. They tell you all the pros and show you the perfect display unit, but never put the same amount of effort into making sure your stay is enjoyable. The office is also closed for administrative purposes at least once a week. If you're a student at SLU or Harris Stowe and need somewhere close, by all means. But if you actually want to have some peace and quiet and get your dollars worth, I do not recommend.
