Resident 2014 - 2015

5/11/2015

Personal horrible living experience in Dorchester The first week I moved into this building, the air conditioner broker down and I had to survive two nights with no air conditioners when it was 86 degree outside. Also, since I moved in, disposal went down more than 10 times. And once when the disposal broke down, all the water went to the dishwasher. When people come to my apt to fix it, the handy man poked a hole on the wall. After that, it took the office more than 1 week to send some contractor to fix the hole. And on the scheduled day, the contractor did not come. He came the day after the scheduled day without any notice and just used the key to open my door. However, I have a chain lock so he cannot come in while I was sleeping. The leasing office sent me a really intimidate email saying that I need to cooperate. Also, I have changed light bulbs in the apt more than 10 times since I moved in. I do not know what the hell is wrong with the electric in this apt. Plus, the rent is more than 1200 dollars one month for an one bed room apt, what kind of apt would still install really really noisy window AC! I cannot sleep due to the large noise of the AC. Even if I turn off my own, I can still hear the shaking noise of other's AC with my sound proof eye plus.. I have to move out and find another place to escape the noise. I think I do not need to mention the false fire alarm went on several times in the middle of night, waked me every single time. However, I really do hope that before I rented this place, I would know some student fell off 23rd floor in 2013 and no additional protection on the balcony was made at all. The railing on the balcony is far way from safe and there is no lock on the balcony door. Actually, the door is really in low quality. One day I left apt with the bedroom door and window open, the convection current is so strong that the door was blow open and my cat went to the balcony and fell off the building. With those cheap protection on the balcony, how long do you think it will take for another accident to happen. I really do not understand why after someone fell off 23rd floor there is no extra protection the the balcony was installed. The gap between the handrail is too big, even a small children can go through the gap.
