Resident 2019

10/2/2019

The parking is the number one complaint about this property. It's dissapointing to pay close to $1000 per month (rent plus water/sewer/trash) and not be guaranteed a SINGLE parking space at least +/- 1 building from your unit. I routinely have to park pretty far from my unit due to lack of parking spaces. Management could assign a single parking space per $1000 payment/month, that is essentially in front of your building( think about grocery unloading experience...) but doubtless for various excuses that they believe justify inaction, they haven't. I would NOT recommend this property to a friend, mainly because I don't want the competition for parking spaces. I would strongly urge any prospective resident to consider the prospects of having to park several buildings away from their unit as a quality of life consideration to fully comprehend what life at Forest woods apartments would be like before you sign a lease. Bear in mind that the rent approaches what buying a home with driveway would cost, and this place has nothing close to a driveway parking distance from unit. If this is ok with you, then you should be happy here. But, if not, trust me and benefit from my experience and look elsewhere...( don't be that guy/gal who has to see for themselves that the door is actually locked by jiggling the handle.. I'm NOT lying to you , it's locked, i.e. the parking sucks...) If management actually reads these reviews then I would suggest that you get some perspective. I've observed that common areas get spruced only when a unit is up for lease, and yet you send "threatening" " newsletters" suggesting that tenants should obey speed limits/stop signs lest you install speed bumps. Why is there supposedly money for unnecessary speed bump installation, and yet there isint money for assigned parking spaces? ( note that I've never observed anyone driving in a way that seems unsafe to me, considering the low volume of both pedestrian and vehicle traffic). This example of how management spends their time/energy exemplifies what I believe to be an out-of-touch perspective where there's money/time for self-serving things such as sprucing the common areas to rent a unit(removing cobwebs/grime from stairwells/ breezeways, etc.), and to solve an imaginary speed isssue, but no money to address a real issue like fair sharing of inarguably limited parking spaces... Overall, despite the friendly(although ineffective at solving/identifying REAL issues) nature of the staff, I would recommend this place only if you enjoy long walks in a pleasant environment(while paying ~$1000/month)... P.S. I'm unsure what laws exist regarding handicap parking, but I've observed many, many empty handicap parking spaces late at night, suggesting that they aren't being used by residents and should therefore be reassigned(at least somewhat!) for resident parking (residents should take priority over guests of either "abled/disabled" capacity). This is one example of possible solutions that may or may have been explored that could have been a more effective use of time/energy than sending/writing a "threatening" "newsletter"... I want to believe that you can do better! Please prove me right:).
