The Pines At Barnes Crossing

At first glance this may seem like the place the be, but do NOT be fooled. The friendly smile and warm feeling you got BEFORE you signed the lease will slowly fade away! My family and I, after moving from another part of Mississippi wanted something similar to the apartment complex we lived it previous and this seemed like the perfect place. A few months into our lease we started to experience some issues with molding in the bathrooms and around all of the window linings. When I called the front office, the maintenance men were sent to wipe it down with some Clorox and repaint it. A couple weeks later the mold started to grow back & the bathrooms had now picked up a molding smell(even with regular cleaning). When I called to speak to the front office about the issue I was given an attitude as if I was a bother to them. For the amount of rent I was paying I was not going to be paying to fix the problem as well, nor was I going to spend my nights wiping windows. A couple of weeks later, the same issue. This time I was told it was because I was failing to leave my windows open. My wife and I both work and our children are in school, when do you want us to leave the windows open was my question and I got a huff on the other side of the line (the warm friendly smile was no longer). I was calling them out on something that needed serious attention and got attitude instead. This is a health issues that I highly doubt has been fixed. I am fortunate enough to have the $$ to pick and move, however this may not be the case for others. I picked up and left this apartment complex and signed another lease elsewhere. One of the first questions I asked was about mold and to have them prove it to me by allowing me to pump the AC to see if the windows would sweat. Good windows do not sweat, CHEAP windows do, like The Pines. My advice is this, before signing any lease ask questions. TONS of them. Ask about molding. I was stupid not to have asked, as I assumed and ended up making an A$$ out of myself not to mention the money lost. Nonetheless, no money can replace the cost of your families health. I called the health department to file a complaint but was not shocked to hear that this is "not in the budget" to regulate on. REALLY MS?? That's a whole nother story. Bottom line is this: SIMPLE GO ELSEWHERE ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE GOING TO PAY THIS TYPE OF MONEY. :)
