Resident 2019

Not impressed AT ALL. We moved in and the front-loading washing machine had been closed for some period of time long enough to develop growth (mold/mildew) on the inside, which made the entire apartment smell horrible. It was cleaned by the staff, eventually, but there is still a lingering smell from it. The really big issue is this: my kids were complaining that their feet itched, and then we found FLEAs in the carpet. We called the office, and they suggested that we may have brought the fleas in with us. We do not own a pet, and the fleas are not in the area rug that we brought with us to cover the non-carpeted living room flooring. The fleas ARE embedded in the cheap carpet that is in the apartment bedrooms. They also suggested that using a moving company and a moving truck could have caused fleas to get into the apartment. Hmmmm? The management did offer to have a contractor come spray, but I'm not very interested in having someone come spray chemicals on the carpet while my furniture/bedding/clothes are in the apartment and my kids roll/crawl around on the floor a few hours after spraying. I guess I'll just vacuum twice a day for the next month to resolve this flea issue. Renters beware... UPDATE: The management will not allow us to resolve the flea situation ourselves by vacuuming frequently over the entire duration of a flea lifecycle. They are forcing us to use their contractor to spray chemicals in the apartment. This is unacceptable. I am also deeply disturbed that the management repeatedly suggests that they are confident that there were no fleas in the apartment when we moved in. There is no evidence indicating the absence of fleas, but rather just blanket statements of trusting the contractor's work that prepared the apartment prior to us moving in. Saying "our contractor is good and we trust them, and moving trucks are a vector for flea entry" is not sound logic. I deeply regret choosing this apartment complex for my family.
