Laurel Ridge Apartments

We started in a 1 bedroom unit in LR and then a couple years later moved to a 2 bedroom unit with a washer and dryer. We stayed in Laurel Ridge when we moved because: -the location was great (especially if you are going to the school of Public Health or other S. Columbia St or Manning Dr buildings- as long as you don't go during a really busy time when the J bus is too full to pick anyone up at the Kingswood/Laurel Ridge stop) -the maintenance people are very prompt and really nice (and when our washing machine had no hope of continuing, we were given a new, good quality washing machine that sing-beeps when it is finished washing) -the staff are simply excellent! -it seemed to (overall) be nicer than the other apartments (overall) that were in our price range in this area (in terms of layout, kitchen, bathroom, cabinets, carpet, etc) The downsides: -not really anywhere to sit outside, no walking paths directly on the property (although of course there are sidewalks) -NO GYM (although you can go to the gym at a nearby sister apartment) -there are not a lot of apartments with a washer and dryer -the recycling bins get completely full a few days before recycling is collected -we once had neighbors who walked in and out of their house constantly and always slammed the door pretty hard. we could feel/hear it in our living room every time. it didn't bother me, but it drove my husband crazy (when he was trying to study/work) until they moved.
