I lived at Camden South End for one month in June 2009 while working downtown. I had a lovely one bedroom with balcony and gas fireplace, full size washer and dryer, great kitchen, overlooking a courtyard with fountain and trees. I arranged this through Oakwood Corporate Housing, as it was a business stay, and so it was furnished.
The only problem I had was that it had belonged to a smoker, and the smell never quite goes away, no matter what you do ! but it wasn't bothersome enough to move. I also found the location to be a little out of the way, although the light rail stops in back of the building and is very convenient. I didn't rent a car, and there are no big groceries or restaurants very nearby. The farmer's market on Tuesday and Saturday was great, though.
I did feel okay about walking to work, but not about walking home after dark over the highway overpass - it's just too deserted - so I took the light rail home, or a cab. The pool area is very pretty, and the pool was big enough to do laps in. The few maintenance requests I had were dealt with very promptly, and the only person I ever talked with in the office about other requests was very professional.
The stairways were not cleaned during the month that I was there, and there were a few noisy groups of people coming home late on a Saturday night, but nothing unusual. My experience here was generally just fine!
