Resident 2005 - 2006

11/11/2006

I almost never complain about anything, but I would never recommend this complex to anyone. Things started out okay for me, but I've had several maintenance issues that were pretty serious, and I felt that the managment was non-responsive. Last January, I discovered my heater broken, and it wasn't fixed for about 4 days. I ended up sleeping with the oven open to try to stay warm. I felt this was an emergency, but they were very slow to respond. Second, I had a horrible water leak. I'm in a townhouse, and it leaked on the first and second floors, in several places. When I say leak, I mean sheets of water ran down my walls, and was so bad that the mold and stains remained , even when it dried. I called management repeatedly to get some help, but it never came. They finally came and put a tarp over the roof, but I couldn't dry the floor and things started to mold. It smelled horrible. I know that the neighborhood isn't safe, at all, but I decided to risk it and leave my windows open when I wasn't there to try to dry the floor (this was after about a week and a half of wet flooring, mind you). Of course, someone broke in and stole whatever they could carry. Management never sent someone to dry the floor or help with the mold. Finally, just a few months ago, I came home from work to find my hot water heater bursted, and had been leaking water all day. The floor was saturated, water pooling on the carpet. Of course, I called management, even though it was about 7pm. Maintenace came to turn off the hot water heater, but could do nothing about the water. I asked that someone come out immediately to help with the flooded floor. No response. I called again around 9pm, and was told by maintenance that the property manager wanted to wait until morning to send someone to dry the floor, but that he would try to convince here to do something right away. Finally, around 11pm someone came to suck up as much water as possible and put fans down. Now, after this, they did finally change out the carpet, simply because they had to. I also got a "newsletter" shortly after reminding me to pay my rent on time (which I do anyway) and that any water damage is not their responsiblilty. I also learned that I have to cut my own grass in the patio area. Maintenance is horrible, the bugs are HUGE, the neighborhood isn't safe. But the price is right. My lease will end in early 2007 and I hope to move. If I see prospective leasees I warn them of my experiences. Don't move here if you don't have to.
